In August and September, Mary and Ed spent a week in Edinburgh, Scotland and London, then took back-to-back cruises. A 12-day cruise to ports in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland; and then an 18-day North Atlantic cruise to the Faroe Islands, Norway, Iceland, Greenland and Nova Scotia, ending in New York. Alison flew in from Seattle to host and cater the best Baby Shower ever for Erin on November 1. Alison made all the unique delicacies from scratch, and also the flower arrangements, name tags and party favors.

Alison flew in from Australia in July to visit, celebrate Mary's birthday and help Erin prepare for the baby.
Erin, Michael and Ed spent two weeks in Japan and China in May and June. On the first morning in Tokyo, Erin and Michael gave the very good news that Erin was 3.5 months pregnant with baby Carolyn.
After Erin and Michael returned to Atlanta, Ed stayed on in Asia, taking a 48-hour train across China from Beijing to Lhasa, Tibet, and touring Tibet for two weeks.
Since late 2008, Alison has been vacationing 'Down Under', first treking around New Zealand for 2 months. She stayed in hostels, where she made friends with different nationalities, and traveled with them all over 'Kiwi Land'. She used the 'hop-on hop-off' bus to travel both the north and south islands. These economical buses travel a circuit all over New Zealand, and you can catch them to go almost anywhere in New Zealand.
She is now in Australia, having traveled to all 7 states of Australia, and has spent time in Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania, Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Perth. She traveled the Great Ocean Road, spent weeks camping around Ayers Rock and also camped in rugged Northwest Australia. After spending several weeks in Cairns, northeast Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, she returned to Sydney before heading home to Seattle.
